Most people are unaware that there are ways to get free Old
Testament course downloads online. As per all of the
courses on this site, I do not espouse the particular views
on any of the lecturers. I am simply making available the
resources I find.
Here is a link to an audio
lecture series on many of the Old Testament
books by Walter Brueggemann.
These lectures were delivered in the context of a
retreat for the First Presbyterian Church of Knoxville
and will likely reflect a Christian theological
perspective. A thank you to that group for making these
recordings available.
Another Old Testament audio course would be the
Yale Open Course
lectures on the Old Testament, or Hebrew Bible. This is
pretty cool because it is like you are taking a real course
from Yale University. How many people in the world can say
that they have done that?
In addition, I have posted
audio/video lectures
from Robert Eisenman on the Old Testament
and
on the Dead Sea
Scrolls.
Eisenman is perhaps best known for controversies
surrounding the Dead Sea Scrolls.
If you avoid using your Audible Free Trial
credits on an audio Bible or on Hebrew vocabulary
materials, they have three audio courses related to the Old
Testament. They are all in the Modern Scholar Series: The
Hebrew Bible, The Dead Sea Scrolls, and A History of
Ancient Israel. Modern Scholar course are generally top
notch.
In addition, continue to check back on this page. From time
to time, I will post audio snippets from courses that I am
teaching or have taught on the Old Testament, though I will
likely post more Biblical Hebrew materials. I will post
lecture audio here:
