Well, it’s been a crazy year in the history of biblioblogging.  We watched Jim West die and ascend into heaven only to return.  This allowed Joel Watts to be the number one biblioblogger … for a little while.

We witnessed a number of attacks on the Biblioblog top 50.

And, now we’ve witnessed the attempted overthrow of the Biblioblog top 50.

But, in the end, the Biblioblog top 50 transcends all of us … perhaps all of reality. #1 can die, ascend into heaven, and return … it can be attacked on all sides … rebels can stage a coup … but the Biblioblog top 50 … well, it just IS.

That’s the first thing that came to mind when I saw all this hullabaloo.  C’mon guys … really … it’s Christmas.  Joel, you take a break.  And, Scott and Jim, you leave Joel alone.  Gosh, I didn’t realize when I took on the rankings I’d also have to babysit you three.  Everybody’s in time out for the rest of the day.

Well, I want to start off by saying how awesome it was to meet many of you in person at SBL Atlanta about a week ago.  But, sadly no one put two and two together and bought the guy who does the rankings a round at Gibney’s.  I’m looking at you Scott Bailey … notice who’s just above you in the list?

And, then there was Barber and McGrath … Unfortunately their papers were the only ones I heard at the Biblioblogging session.  But, not even a shout out?  I’d say that’s good enough for maybe 3rd place (but only because I ate dinner with you on Monday, James) and 42nd place … Imagine where you could be if you would have just gave some props …

Well, this is not all exactly true.  Joel did in fact try to pay my way for the whole conference in order to be #1, but I mean there’s only so much I can do …

No, I’m only kidding … I’m not saying I can be bribed … but I’m just saying it might be something that we all want to think about for next year .

Or, maybe you all just lost because God made you lose …

in bringing down Jim TWest.  We’ll just call him my “Pennsylvania correspondent” to preserve his anonymity.  He, in fact, provided an important piece in the puzzle when equating Jim’s posts to tweets:

“But in making a parenthetical comment about the usefulness of twitter for sharing useful articles and information between colleagues it occurred to me that many of Jim’s posts likely fall within the 140 character limit and often function in the same manner as twitter.”

This allowed us to demonstrate Jim’s duplicity by tweeting Jim’s blog response from his own blog.  It was very shortly after that Jim began to cave under the pressure …

Sorry, Jim but a nickname is not something you can choose.  It chooses you … like when you’re the only curly headed kid in your class and everyone calls you “perm” … not that I’d know anything about that.

In honor of Jim’s new nickname, everyone please consider updating your blogroll (if Jim’s on there).  You’ll not get away from Twitter so easily my friend.  Now, it will follow you around forever …

Jim has now ruined my fun.  He has now removed my ability to Tweet from his blog.  But, rest assured that it is because of the bold investigative reporting done here that Jim removed this.  I still don’t trust him.  I think he would have kept the Tweet button as long as it was expedient for him (i.e. got him more page views). I mean think about it … if he really hated Twitter that much he would have never had the button in the first place …

But, now it’s not expedient because everyone has been alerted by my expert analysis as to his total depravity.  Very politician-like Jim … very politician-like …
